IWC Launches New 41mm Ceramic Pilot’s Watch in Mojave Desert Color

by Barbara Wilson

IWC has introduced a new 41mm ceramic pilot’s watch, adding a “Mojave Desert” edition to its lineup. Following the recent quiet release of the white “Lake Tahoe” ceramic model, this new version features a sand-colored beige and brown ceramic case. The size remains the same at 41mm in diameter and 11.4mm thick.

To create the unique brown ceramic, IWC’s materials scientists carefully blend zirconium oxide with other metallic oxides. This process requires precise mixing ratios discovered through trial and error, as the color changes during the sintering process. The resulting case is highly scratch-resistant and extremely hard.

The watch houses the IWC 32112 automatic movement, offering a 120-hour power reserve. It displays hours, minutes, hacking seconds, and date, and is water-resistant up to 100 meters. The brown dial is coated with Super-LumiNova on the markers and hands for enhanced visibility.

Priced at $8,500, the Mojave Desert edition matches the cost of the earlier Lake Tahoe model. While the Lake Tahoe is seen as a bright, bold summer watch, the Mojave Desert offers a versatile, all-season style. With IWC expanding its ceramic pilot watch range—including a Big Pilot, Perpetual Calendar, and 41mm Chronograph—fans have plenty of options to choose from.
