Nivada Grenchen has unveiled two limited-edition chronographs, each powered by a restored vintage Valjoux 23 movement and produced in just 25 pieces. The watches combine classic design elements with rare mechanical heritage and are priced at $5,000 each.
The first model, the Chronograph Valjoux 23 Broad Arrow, draws inspiration from a 1963 version of the Chronomaster Aviator Sea Diver (CASD). It features a matte black dial with “Chronograph Aviator Sea Diver” printed on it, tinted Super-Luminova on the broad arrow hands and markers, and a red regatta countdown track on the 30-minute subdial. The watch also includes a bi-directional bezel with no click and comes in a vintage-sized 38mm stainless steel case with drilled lugs. It is fitted with a brown perforated racing strap.
The second version offers a more striking aesthetic. Its dial and world time bezel are made from blue aventurine, a sparkling material that gives each watch a starry-sky appearance. This edition also features “Chronomaster Aviator Sea Diver” printed in white, blue accents on silver subdials, and luminous detailing.
At the core of both models is the manually wound Valjoux 23 VZ movement, restored by Nivada Grenchen to meet modern standards while preserving its original character. It operates at 18,000 beats per hour and has a 48-hour power reserve. The movement is visible through a display caseback, and the watch is water-resistant to 100 meters.
Both watches are protected by a double-domed sapphire crystal, adding to their vintage charm. Preorders open on May 29, with deliveries scheduled in two batches—July and September 2025. Given their rarity and appeal, the editions are expected to sell out quickly.
