Longines Unveils White Dial Legend Diver in 39mm for Summer

by Barbara Wilson

Longines has added a fresh white dial version to its 39mm Legend Diver lineup, bringing a clean and modern twist to a well-loved classic. This new colorway, introduced earlier this summer, feels like a natural fit for the model and adds to an already strong lineup of options.

The 39mm Legend Diver, first released in 2023, has quickly become a fan favorite. Earlier versions came in classic blue and black, followed by green, grey, and terracotta. Each brought a new personality to the watch, and now the white dial joins with a bold contrast of matte white background and deep black markers and printing.

While vintage-inspired dive watches have flooded the market in recent years, the Legend Diver has remained a core part of Longines’ collection since 2007. The white dial variant continues the brand’s effort to make the model more appealing for daily wear, while still offering the specifications of a serious tool watch.

The dial features three-dimensional hour markers with a textured finish for visual depth and improved legibility. This texture carries over to the hands, offering a rugged feel. A high box crystal covers both the dial and the internal rotating bezel, which is operated by one of two screw-down crowns with a classic compressor-style crosshatch design. The top crown adjusts the internal bezel in both directions, while the bottom sets the time and winds the watch manually. Although the bezel isn’t ratcheted, the crown offers enough resistance for precise adjustments.

While white-dial dive watches may not be ideal for underwater use, this one shines as a summer everyday piece — perfect for those who spend more time at desks than in deep waters. The watch keeps its standard dimensions, measuring 39mm in diameter, 12.7mm thick, and 47mm lug-to-lug. It maintains the look of the 1950s and 60s EPSA supercompressor cases but uses modern construction to achieve its 300-meter water resistance.

On the wrist, the watch wears comfortably thanks to short lugs and a sharply turned-down bracelet. The included beads-of-rice bracelet matches the watch’s vintage aesthetic and includes a convenient tool-less micro-adjustment clasp, allowing for four positions via a simple pusher. Though it uses pins instead of screws for the links, the bracelet remains solid at this $3,550 price point.

Inside, the Legend Diver houses the ETA-based L888 automatic movement. It offers a 72-hour power reserve, COSC certification, and a silicon balance spring for added durability and accuracy. The absence of a date window keeps the dial clean — a detail likely to please many enthusiasts.

With this new release, Longines continues to strengthen its position in the market for accessible luxury tool watches. The white dial Legend Diver may very well be one of the most stylish and versatile summer watches of the year.
