Harris Dickinson is fast becoming a force in both film and fashion. Known for standout performances in Triangle of Sadness, The Iron Claw, and Scrapper, his star is rising even higher ahead of the release of Babygirl, where early reviews have praised both his and Nicole Kidman’s performances.
At this year’s GQ Men of the Year event, Dickinson not only impressed with his acting resume and style but also made a statement with his wristwear. He chose a vintage Rolex Day-Date “President” with a rare Stella Oxblood dial — a bold but thoughtful pick that spoke to both his personal taste and understanding of horological history.
The 36mm Day-Date, sourced from London vintage specialists Kettle Kids, stands out for its subtle elegance. Despite its gold finish and bold dial, the smaller case size keeps the look refined. The watch’s functionality — with its day and date display — and Rolex’s concealed clasp make it as practical as it is stylish. “The Stella Dial Day-Date is the epitome of laid-back elegance,” says David Silver of The Vintage Watch Company.
Dickinson’s stylist, Ben Schofield, explained that watches don’t usually make the cut unless the actor has a strong personal connection. “That’s why I liked the idea of Kettle Kids for this. They offer incredible vintage pieces that go beyond trends,” he said. The Rolex paired perfectly with Dickinson’s ‘80s-inspired brown pinstripe suit, creating a cohesive and thoughtful look.
Dickinson wasn’t the only one tapping into Kettle Kids’ archive. Artist and watch enthusiast Slawn also wore a standout vintage piece — a yellow gold Patek Philippe Nautilus 3800J. He picked up the watch from the store the same morning and paired it with a Martine Rose x Supreme suit and a sapphire blue bracelet — worn on the opposite wrist to keep traditionalists at ease.
The Nautilus, designed by legendary watchmaker Gerald Genta, is a highly respected model in the world of luxury sports watches. Produced from the 1980s until 2006, the 3800J offers a slim profile and timeless design. “The Nautilus is a design icon,” said Kettle Kids co-founder Jacob Hutson. “It fits any occasion, from formal to casual.”
J.J. Owens, founder of The Daily Grail, praised Slawn’s choice. “Any time a celebrity wears a non-production vintage piece, I get excited. The 3800 with a blue dial is one of my all-time favorites — it blends classic appeal with modern cool.”
At Men of the Year 2024, both Dickinson and Slawn proved that the right watch can speak volumes. With carefully selected vintage timepieces, they showed off style, taste, and a deep appreciation for craftsmanship — a flex well worth the attention.
