Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Wins MVP, Gifts Rolexes to Thunder Teammates

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was named the NBA’s MVP for the 2024-25 season on Wednesday. But his Oklahoma City Thunder teammates were winners too.

After the announcement, SGA surprised his team by giving each player a Rolex watch. Gilgeous-Alexander earned the MVP with strong stats, leading the league in scoring with 32.7 points per game. Yet, the Thunder’s success was a team effort.

Oklahoma City finished with 68 wins, one of their best seasons in recent memory. They secured the top seed in the Western Conference thanks to their young, athletic, and defensively solid squad.

SGA’s role as the best player on the NBA’s top team strengthened his MVP case. The award was tough to win this year. Nikola Jokić had a near triple-double average, while Giannis Antetokounmpo posted impressive numbers as well. So, the Rolexes given by SGA were well deserved.

Still, the real prize the Thunder aim for is the NBA championship.
