Vintage Dress Watches Dominate the Emmys Red Carpet

LOS ANGELES – May 22, 2025 — At this year’s Emmy Awards, wristwear took a leading role. While some stars kept their watches under wraps, others embraced classic timepieces, turning the red carpet into an unexpected showcase of elegant, vintage-inspired watches.

Jeremy Allen White and Idris Elba chose not to display their watches, giving room for others to shine. Leading the style parade were Taylor Zakhar Perez, Jonathan Bailey, Matt Bomer, and Joshua Jackson — all opting for sleek dress watches that balanced subtlety with statement.

Co-stars from Fellow Travelers, Jonathan Bailey and Matt Bomer, nailed the “couples watch” look. Bailey wore the Omega De Ville Prestige, which matched perfectly with his relaxed tuxedo and cummerbund. Bomer, meanwhile, wore the Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra Shades in a compact 34mm size. Though marketed for women, Bomer’s choice highlighted Omega’s broad appeal and the growing popularity of smaller watches.

Elizabeth Debicki, who won Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal of Princess Diana in The Crown, also turned heads with her watch. She wore a Vacheron Constantin Heures Créatives Heure Discrète — a refined 2015 piece featuring an 18k white gold cover set with diamonds. Inspired by 1930s and ’40s designs, the piece echoed Diana’s own timeless style and added a layer of quiet glamour to Debicki’s ensemble.

Director Taika Waititi stood out for going big with his IWC Portugieser Perpetual Calendar 44, a feature-packed timepiece with day, date, and month indicators. The 44mm watch was a bold companion to his Brunello Cucinelli suit, though its size made it harder to tuck under a sleeve.

Fellow IWC fan Hiroyuki Sanada, who won Best Actor in a Drama for Shogun, chose a more refined IWC Portugieser Automatic 42. The watch’s classic lines and slightly slimmer build complemented his monochrome black suit without stealing focus — a perfect balance of form and function.

Presenter Taylor Zakhar Perez went for vintage-inspired elegance, wearing a Vacheron Constantin Patrimony with his Gucci suit. The rose gold case, slim profile, and brown leather strap gave the watch a 1950s charm, ideal for slipping under a cuff while still catching the eye.

Joshua Jackson also leaned into minimalist elegance with a Jaeger-LeCoultre Ultra Thin. With a 39mm rose gold case and eggshell dial, the timepiece paid homage to classic pocket watch design. The clean, timeless aesthetic made it a perfect pick for a veteran of the red carpet.

This year’s Emmys confirmed that when it comes to watches, classic design and quiet elegance are very much in style. Whether tiny or oversized, vintage or modern, the right timepiece can be the ultimate finishing touch — a secret weapon on the red carpet.
