Jonathan Bailey Wears Rugged Omega Railmaster in New Jurassic Film

LONDON – May 22, 2025 — In Jurassic World: Rebirth, actor Jonathan Bailey trades in his period drama charm for grit and survival skills. Playing Dr. Henry Loomis, a paleontologist turned survival expert, Bailey steps into a world of giant carnivorous dinosaurs and high-stakes action.

The film’s latest trailer shows Bailey tackling wild terrain — abseiling cliffs, battling raptors in caves, and facing sea monsters head-on. It’s the kind of role that calls for more than just courage; it needs gear built for the toughest conditions. That’s where Bailey’s watch comes in.

As an ambassador for Omega, Bailey chose a timepiece that fit both the rugged tone of the film and the intellect of his character. “For Jurassic, I wanted to put an Omega watch through its paces,” Bailey said. “I knew my character needed one, and I spotted the Railmaster from ’57. Raynald [Aeschlimann, Omega CEO] helped track down a modern homage to that exact model.”

The result? Bailey wore the 60th Anniversary Omega Railmaster, released in 2017, throughout the film. Originally built in 1957 as a tool watch for scientists and engineers, the Railmaster offered high magnetic resistance — a vital feature for accuracy in environments with strong electromagnetic fields.

“It’s a great fit for a scientist in Jurassic World,” said Robert-Jan Broer of Fratello. “The original was made for precision and durability. The modern version uses anti-magnetic alloys and stays true to its utilitarian roots.”

For the film, Bailey swapped the Railmaster’s stainless steel bracelet for a rugged leather strap. The earthy tones matched his on-screen wardrobe — plaid shirts, chinos, and brown boots — giving the watch a worn-in, field-ready look.

“The new Railmaster nods to the original CK2914 but meets today’s standards for toughness,” Broer added. “It’s understated and built for the outdoors.”

Historically, the Railmaster was part of Omega’s professional trilogy: Seamaster for diving, Speedmaster for racing, and Railmaster for scientists and railway engineers. Though it didn’t get the fame of Bond’s Seamaster or NASA’s Speedmaster, it earned respect for its function-first design and short original production run.

Watch expert Stan Duin of Vintage Masters believes the Railmaster is perfect for Bailey’s character. “It’s tough enough for the field and precise enough for science. And it still looks stylish,” he said.

Bailey, who first discovered Omega through his grandfather’s vintage De Ville, said the legacy of the brand resonates with him. “The older I get, the more I think about time and how you spend it,” he said. “There’s something powerful about a watch that’s passed down through generations.”

With its roots in innovation and quiet strength, the Railmaster is a fitting companion for a dinosaur-fighting scientist — and for those who simply appreciate enduring craftsmanship.
