Zenith has expanded its popular Defy Diver range with two striking new models under the “Shadow” series, unveiled following the brand’s success at Watches and Wonders 2024. These new watches combine robust dive specs with fresh design elements, highlighted by microblasted titanium cases and vivid green-yellow accents.
The Defy Extreme Diver Shadow is the larger of the two, housed in a 42.5mm titanium case that measures 15mm thick with a 47.4mm lug-to-lug span. It is powered by the automatic El Primero 3620 movement, known for its high-frequency 36,000 vibrations per hour and 60-hour power reserve. The watch features a date display at 3 o’clock, a screw-down crown, and a helium escape valve, offering an impressive 600 meters of water resistance.
Design-wise, the Shadow version stands out with rhodium-plated hands and indices, featuring green-glowing SuperLuminova SLN C1 on the hour markers and hour hand. The minute hand and bezel pip emit blue light, while the bezel’s markers glow yellow in low light. The watch includes three strap options: a black rubber strap with a folding clasp, a microblasted titanium bracelet, and a black-and-yellow fabric strap with a pin buckle. It is priced at $12,300.
The smaller Defy Revival Diver Shadow draws from Zenith’s vintage Ref. A3648 but adds vibrant, modern touches. It comes in a 37mm octagonal titanium case that’s 15mm thick with a 44mm lug-to-lug. Like its larger sibling, it offers 600m of water resistance. The watch uses the Elite 670 automatic movement, with a date window positioned at 4:30. The dial features yellow accents, printed indices, and hands coated in yellow with SuperLuminova SLN C1 for readability in the dark. The 14-sided bezel features a unique yellow-tinted sapphire insert.
Completing the look is a microblasted titanium “ladder” bracelet with a folding clasp. This model retails at $8,200.
The Shadow line adds a more expressive personality to Zenith’s typically monochrome diver lineup. These models combine bold design with serious diving performance, and their vintage-inspired yet modern styling is expected to resonate with collectors and everyday wearers alike.
