TAG Heuer Unveils Three New Monaco Watches for F1’s Crown Jewel

by Barbara Wilson

As Formula 1 gears up for its most iconic event, the Monaco Grand Prix, TAG Heuer has unveiled three new editions of its famed Monaco chronograph to mark the start of LVMH’s official sponsorship of the sport. The releases highlight the brand’s historical ties to motorsport and blend vintage charm with modern innovation.

TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph Stopwatch

Leading the launch is the Monaco Chronograph Stopwatch, limited to 970 pieces. The watch comes in a 39mm DLC-coated titanium case, measuring 15mm thick. It draws inspiration from a vintage Heuer split-second pocket watch, featuring a black dial center with black-gold hands and indices filled with blue Super-LumiNova. A silver opaline outer ring is printed with a red minute track, complemented by red chronograph accents.

Inside, the watch is powered by the Caliber 11 automatic movement, offering hours, minutes, small seconds, a 30-minute chronograph counter, and a date function. The power reserve is 42 hours. This model is priced at CHF 9,600.

TAG Heuer Monaco Split-Seconds Chronograph

For those preferring contemporary design, TAG Heuer has introduced a bold Monaco Split-Seconds Chronograph. The case is made of TH-Titanium, a new material developed by TAG Heuer using heat treatment to create a unique, textured finish resembling camouflage.

The movement, also crafted from titanium and finished with black DLC, is visible through a skeletonized dial accented with bright neon lime green. The high-frequency split-seconds chronograph operates at 36,000 vibrations per hour and offers a 65-hour power reserve. Despite its technical complexity, the entire watch weighs only 86 grams. It is priced at CHF 145,000.

TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph x Gulf

Paying tribute to motorsport heritage, the Monaco Chronograph x Gulf revives the iconic Gulf Oil livery, famously seen on the Porsche 917 driven by Steve McQueen in the 1971 film Le Mans. The watch shares the same dimensions and Caliber 11 movement as the Stopwatch model but features a sandblasted grade 2 titanium case and a folding clasp bracelet.

The dial features rhodium-plated hands and indices, along with the Gulf logo and signature blue and orange stripes. This edition is limited to 971 pieces, nodding to the year of the film’s release. Retail price is CHF 9,300.

A Modern Take on a Motorsport Classic

The Monaco collection remains a pillar of TAG Heuer’s racing legacy. With these new releases, the brand continues to evolve the design—balancing nostalgic aesthetics with modern materials and engineering. From vintage-inspired detailing to futuristic titanium innovation, the Monaco line reinforces its relevance in both horology and Formula 1 culture.

For collectors and fans alike, these releases celebrate not just the grandeur of the Monaco Grand Prix, but also TAG Heuer’s enduring role in the world of motorsport.
