Omega has launched a major update to its Aqua Terra line, unveiling a 30mm case size for the first time in the collection’s history. Known for being a versatile, everyday sports watch, the Aqua Terra now comes in a smaller form, complete with two brand-new movements designed specifically for this size.
The new range includes 12 models in various finishes, such as stainless steel, two-tone, Sedna™ Gold, and Moonshine™ Gold. Each watch features applied hour markers, a clean date window at six o’clock, and comes fitted on an integrated bracelet. The bracelet includes Omega’s screw-and-pin system, a butterfly clasp with side pushers, and a 2mm comfort adjustment for a better fit.
The highlight of this release is the debut of the Caliber 8750 and 8751 movements. These mechanical calibers are just 20mm in diameter, created exclusively for the 30mm case. Despite their size, they deliver the same high performance as Omega’s larger models. Both calibers feature the brand’s Co-Axial escapement, a silicon balance spring, and bi-directional automatic winding, offering over 48 hours of power reserve. They are also METAS-certified Master Chronometers and resistant to magnetic fields up to 15,000 gauss.
The Caliber 8750 powers the steel and two-tone versions, while the 8751—with upgraded finishing—is reserved for the gold models. Prices for the new Aqua Terra 30mm collection range from $6,600 to $40,100, depending on the materials and configuration. All models are available now.
This move marks a meaningful step in mechanical watchmaking, especially for smaller case sizes. Omega has long offered top-tier engineering in its larger models, but this launch brings the same innovation to a more compact watch without relying on gem-set or decorative dials alone. In doing so, the brand sets a new standard for smaller sport watches.
While the Aqua Terra 30mm clearly positions itself as a competitor to Rolex’s Oyster Perpetual in terms of size and style, it distinguishes itself with a transparent caseback and advanced in-house movement technology. Omega’s commitment to building a movement from scratch for this size shows strong confidence in the growing appeal of smaller mechanical watches.
