Cornell Watch Co., a once-forgotten 19th-century American watch brand revived by collector John Warren, has announced the launch of its latest model, the Lozier. This release continues Warren’s mission to reimagine what the Chicago-based company might have produced if it had survived into the modern era.
The Lozier blends historical design inspiration with modern manufacturing, including key components made in the United States using Swiss-grade equipment. While not entirely American-made, the watch marks a notable step in rebuilding domestic watchmaking capabilities.
Styled after an enlarged Patek Philippe reference 96, the Lozier features a 37.6mm stainless steel case that measures 8.5mm thick (with crystal) and has a water resistance rating of 50 meters. The 22mm lug width gives it a bold wrist presence, while the lug-to-lug length of 46.8mm ensures a comfortable fit.
The standout dial, crafted from German silver in a “double sunk” pocket watch style, features a single-piece, diamond-cut construction with a frosted finish. Pad-printed on the dial is a bespoke “Chicago Roman” typeface created by designer Samuel Baker. The “Cornell Leaf” hands, brushed by hand and finished with diamond-cut edges, complete the refined look.
The case, crown, and dial are all produced in the U.S. using Kern 5-axis CNC machines by Hour Precision in Columbus, Ohio. These machines match those used by top Swiss and German manufacturers, making this project a rare example of high-precision American watch production. Warren hopes this partnership helps build a domestic supply chain that can support future watchmaking efforts.
The crystal is sourced from Japan, while the movement is the Swiss elaboré-grade Sellita SW300-1 b, which offers a 56-hour power reserve and is regulated in three positions. Final regulation and assembly are handled by WOSTEP- and CW21-certified watchmakers Justin Harrell and Sergio Berrios at The Watchmaker’s Shop in Asheville, North Carolina.
Preorders for the Lozier open on June 18, 2025, and close on July 16, 2025. Deliveries will begin in Q4 2025 and continue into 2026 on a first-come, first-served basis. While there is no set production limit, orders will only be accepted during the four-week preorder window. The watch is priced at $6,200, with a 50% deposit required upfront and the remainder due before delivery.
The Lozier represents a bold attempt to reintroduce American craftsmanship into the high-end watch market. Although the Swiss movement keeps it from being a fully American-made timepiece, the project serves as a meaningful experiment in reestablishing U.S.-based production—and a test of whether consumers are ready to support it.
