Record producer Beatz and Swiss watchmaker De Bethune have launched their third collaboration: the DB Kind of Two GMT “Season 3.” This unique timepiece features two distinct dials—one modern, one classic—that wearers can switch between using a precise flipping mechanism.
The watch houses a new hand-wound movement, caliber DB2517, developed entirely in De Bethune’s Swiss manufacture. Made up of 394 parts, it offers a four-day power reserve thanks to a self-regulating twin barrel system.
The contemporary dial shows the movement with a black-and-gold color scheme. It features a black open-worked deltoid bridge shaped like a triangle. A sub-dial at 6 o’clock displays golden hour markers, with minutes around the edge, both using polished blue-steel hands. Details like microlight and satin finishes highlight the gold wheels of the jumping time mechanism and the silver twin barrels.
Flipping the watch reveals the classic GMT dial in silver, black, and De Bethune’s signature blue. This side has a polished steel jumping seconds hand and silver numerals around the edge. Blue titanium hands mark the hour on a wider ring, while a hand-guilloché pattern of silver and blue waves decorates the center.
Home time is set on the contemporary dial using the crown’s third position, while the second time zone is adjusted on the GMT dial by pulling the crown to its second position.
The watch comes with a Nubuck strap and a 43.3 mm case made from zirconium and satin-finished Grade 5 titanium. The floating lugs were redesigned for ease of switching between dials. Only 10 pieces of the “Season 3” edition will be made, priced at $235,000 (CHF 210,000).
This is the third release by the duo, following the Dream Watch 5 Tourbillon “Season 1” in 2021 and the DBD “Season 2” with a burgundy dial in 2023. De Bethune also announced its first U.S. boutique, the De Bethune Lounge at 1916 Company New York on Madison Avenue, opening for private appointments starting March 24. Visitors can explore the brand’s collections and soon access custom strap services.
